Spice could fight melanoma

Researchers from the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center recently reported positive test results a common spice's ability to fight cancer. The spice, known as Curcumin, is often used in the turmeric and curry powders of Indian food. Researchers say it may prove effective in treatment as well as prevention. Bharat B Aggarwal, a cancer medicine professor at M.D. Anderson's experimental therapeutics department, said, "Curcumin's promise is enormous," continuing, "It appears to inhibit multiple pathways by which cancer grows, and we know it's nontoxic."
